I don't know that this key was ever used other than being programmed to the car (it was my third/spare key). There are no scratches/signs of wear on the plastic and all the numbers/symbols are still written on the back. Of course, the metal part would have to be replaced/recut for your car.

This key is the hard plastic, diamond shaped kind with the BMW emblem as the lock button in the middle of the key with the unlock and trunk buttons at the opposite ends.

Check with your dealer, but this key should work with:
1998-2005 BMW 3, 5, & some 7 Series
1998-2005 BMW X5, Z3, Z4
(most late model BMWs that do not have push-button start)
*MAY FIT OTHER YEARS AND MODELS IF YOUR CURRENT KEY LOOKS THE SAME

This should not matter since you will most likely need to have the blade changed, but there are two types of blades available with these keys. This key has the blade with A CHANNEL OR GROOVE CUT DOWN THE CENTER ON BOTH SIDES OF THE KEY WITH AN INDENTATION OR NOTCH ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BLADE.
THE OTHER KEY WILL BE FLAT ON BOTH SIDES WITH NO NOTCHES.

The numbers on the back of the key are:
315 MHZ
FCC ID: LX8 FZV
CAN: 2911 102 800
BMW 6 933 730

I am asking $25.00; buyer pays shipping.

PM me with any questions.
Thank you.

Could you please confirm if this would work on a X3 2008? No push start button

If yes, Does it only need reprogramming from the dealer or some other modifications?

It is my understanding that this type of key is the same for all late-model (post 2001) non-push-button-start cars. It will definately need reprogrammed by the dealer to be paired to your vehicle and a new metal part of the key would have to be installed and cut, as I doubt the current key could be altered with the existing pattern in tact.

I would prefer you confirm with the dealer where you will have the programming done that this process will work as I have found different dealers have different answers and I would not want to mislead you. I see these used keys sell often on e-bay, so I assume it is doable.

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
