On 2nd though -- You indicate in the DIY thread that you DID connect all the wires and damaged the shifter when you installed it. So much so that it won't stay on any longer like it should. Not feeling right about this. In this ad you indicate you don't know how to install it, but in the DIY you said you already did and only complaint was what you did to it after.

What gives??
I attempted to install the shift knob and it successfully works. It is indeed brand new since I bought it about a month ago and just installed it and took it off after a couple of days because I replaced this knob with a carbon fiber shift knob that matches the car since it is gray. The ONLY problem I was experiencing was the trouble of having the knob to stay on. I then went into the BMW dealership a couple days after writing on the DIY thread with no answer and he fixed it in 2 seconds. All that needed to be done is adding a little push to the shift knob so the clips inside the knob with wrap around the rod. It was a great mod and I LOVED IT, but decided to go carbon fiber. This is a great deal and all that needs to be done is wiring from inside the knob. There are 2 wires located inside the knob and those have to be hooked up to 2 other bras wires and into the menu button (thats where it receives the power). Overall this knob is BRAND NEW since I only used it for literally a day and a half. Thank you all and let me know if you have any other questions.

I installed the same knob in my 550i. Wired to the MENU button and the lights illuminate automatically with the rest of the instruments and you can adjust brightness like all the other gauges too. The color of mine is slightly more RED than the orangy instruments but no problm for me. It also creates some heat (minimal) at the shifter which I think of as a cheap winter option. It does look really cool at night for sure.

Good mod- not worth $250 (mine was slightly used for $60 on eBay) but a good add.
