I'm SO sick of these goddam private classified ads from Cali that say shit like "Local pickup only". All of you from California don't know how to f*****g ship things or what? Jesus Christ.
Do the other 49 states a favor and just make your own forum that says "California Reseller Forum for People Who Can't Ship Gud"

Some sellers would rather not take the risk of getting items damaged while being shipped. Granted there is in insurance, which ups the cost along with possible hassle. Not too mention out of state sales require paypal transactions. Local transactions tend to avoid this, thereby putting cash in hand immediately, no extra fees. It's unfortunate you are located in a region that does not seem to have a lot of heavily mod'd e60's thereby causing a shortage of used aftermarket parts, but please keep your frustrations under control. (OP cleaned up )

I actually like to buy things when it has that "local pick up only" so at least I can see the damn product and save myself some shipping charges along the way. Heck back in my younger days, I even traveled down to So. Cal. to buy front bumper and bring it back because the seller didn't want to ship. At least I got to see it in person and inspect it before handing my cash over and avoid Uncle Sam taxing my ass.

I see a more simple solution to this problem... move to Southern California
As an enticement (besides more car parts), I would like to quote one of my favorite old school hits:
"California girls, (they're) unforgettable--daisy dukes, bikinis on top. Sun-kissed skin so hot..."
On a serious note, I notice a lot of car forums do actually have separate SoCal sections. The Honda S2000 forums have a separate classifieds section and there is a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution forum for SoCal people, most of which have more activity than those sections for the rest of the country...
And I want to add in that people in SoCal DO ship stuff. So far on here alone I've shipped two sets of forged wheels.

even with regional sections, from what I've seen/experienced, most FS threads get posted in the general private classified section or linked to there from the regional section.
