The red light is the fiber optic cable..It plugs into the back of the ipod unit...Once installed, you will have to go to your dealer and have it coded for the ipod...That cost approx $200...If your car plays mp3's in the cd player in the dash, then you won't have to go to the dealer...It will be a simple plug and play...The install is super easy and takes like 15 mins to do...The crappy part is having to go to the dealer for the software upgrade...
Any idea which version is the latest? and how do I access the hidden menu to check?

Ahh Thanks...These cars are so complicated... and $200 seems like a lot for something that would seem pretty easy and cheap to do. Then again it is the dealership.

It doesn't matter what version you have...The question is, are you able to play a mp3 cd in your cd player right now? If the answer is no, you will have to go to the dealer to have them enable it...There is really no other way around it...You can install it yourself and then have the dealer enable it for you...If you can play mp3's right now in the dash, then its a simple install of the unit and your ready to go...Hope this helps...
YES this helps sooo much. Thanks for all your help. Sorry I don't quite know my way around this car's electronics.
