Purchased this winter, used 1 time to go skiing. Just sold the car so the rack is going. Cost ~$500 new.
OEM BMW rack fits E39 BMW 5 series (525i, 528i, 530i, 540i, M5 from 1997-2003).
The Yakima fairing and Yakima ski attachments (locking) can be sold separately and will fit most roof racks.
