OK -- I've waited long enough to get over being embarrassed. I bought these from an individual who decided not to install on his 525 (on another forum -- so that was my first mistake!). I glanced at the part number from memory and it looked familiar (6 cyl. PN is 2077.140 while V8's get 2078.140). Got them installed and immediately could see the front didn't drop below the original sport package ride height -- so went home, checked the part number properly, and had a really strong drink when I realized my screw up.
They felt great with the OE struts, but I decided I wasn't going to take a chance on a third install if the stock struts wore out too quickly and since replacing the struts I went with H&R. My personal opinion has always been that Eibach are a better choice on E60's with OE struts while aftermarket struts can handle the extra stiffness of H&R's.
Bottom line is that they were on the car about 10 days before the new parts came in and got installed. Last time I checked on ebay the best price was over $250 with shipping. I'll sell for $185 plus $25 shipping to the lower 48 states. So $210 shipped which is at least a $40 savings for very little use.
Note photos are after removal so you can see they are still in good shape.

I will consider offers for the springs if anyone is interested, otherwise I'll put them on ebay and see what happens.
