The oven method or use of a heat gun works. I did it on the RS6. I have yet to try on my E60, but it's only a matter of time. I don't particularly enjoy the oven method, and prefer my trusted heat gun instead. Apply medium heat on the seal portion for a few minutes, and it comes apart easily. Re-heat the seal, and voila.
I have yet to experience any issues with fog in the lens either, so that is good. For good measure, I put a bit of clear silicone sealant on the seam after reattaching it. Cheap way to do it unfortunately. I had ordered the Euro housings from a tuner, and got screwed as they shipped me one of the housings broken. Friggin' credit card would not refund me either for the fraudulent charge (Avalon Motorsports in Denver).
All in all...the method works though.
