I have a Broadway rear view mirror, so I've never taken advantage of the electro-chromatic goodness.

Is it possible for dealer to program the auto-fold function?

Not in United states. I've tried. Maybe in europe, but not here.

You can possible ask someone with an M5 to program the modules for you (install the modules into their car, bring to dealer, program / re-program to the M5 fold function) then take it out of their car and instlal it in yours and theoretically it should work. But I've never gotten that far, especially with someone I know that's close to me to let me do that with their M5.

I do have some extra door modules (from germany, m5). But its pre-09/2005 and I want to program it but I dont know any M5's that I'm close with. =( oh wellz. I should sell them here.

If the M5 mirrors are supposed to be folded electronically, will folding them manually damage or increase wear in any way? Since the other E60's don't have the electronic folding option, I'm guessing that the mirrors (when added to a non-M5 E60) are folded manually.

Well, technically, even if you fold your mirrors up.. its only 4-5 inches different from the side of your car.. so your better of not folding it at all. Also, if you're worried about a car hitting your mirror, dont' worry, cause if the car is taht close, they probably hitting your door and fender. heh.

Also, if you mirror is folded out, it could be a preventive marker for a person that is about to hit your car and is like, oh crap, I hit their mirror, let me stop and not damage anymore.

I've manually folded the M5 mirrors on my previous 545i a few times.

These are awesome.
Just bought a 01/2005 BMW 530i, will it fit on this car?
If so I'm interested.
Send you a PM.

Man, this is a great deal. I'd buy them but the only problem I have is that I can't find anyplace in my area that would paint and install side mirrors. They're telling me that the job is too small.

Good luck wuth the sale.
