I would not recommend removing the current limiting resistor.
ive been using my AUX without a resistor for over 2 half years every day (i only used a CD once, the day i got the car) and i have NEVER had an issue, and i have used it with a variety of difference devices from my own, to friends. people on the forums have been using without them for years as well and i have yet to read or hear about an issue.

aux cable with the resistor has almost non existent bass, lower volume compared to the CD or FM/AM, and just more terrible quality.

now if you want horrible quality, then be my guest, use your cable with resistor. i prefer CD quality with no issues tho.

You may never have a problem, heck you probably never will, but as a degreed engineer I know why the resistor is in the circuit and I wouldn't take the chance. Murphy's law and all.

Caveat Emptor.

This is past due, but I installed one of these and used it on our summer vacation down to florida. Worked great. I ended putting it in the sun glass cubby. Thanks!
