Another reviewer who thinks seemingly thinks that this is a Van Hooydonk and not a Bangle car... Do these idiots think that the car design is only finished the day before the car makes its debut? The F10 has, of course, been *years* in the making, and the design will, as it always is, have been finalized and approved a while back - and certainly while Bangle was still at the helm... The F10 (as with the 5GT) is still very much a product of the Bangle era - as will a few more BMW's to come... It will be a while before the first BMW totally realized under Van Hooydonk hits the streets.

What I think confuses people is that the credit for the design usually falls on the design head even though another staff designer usually does the actual design work.
I think many people will find it interesting to learn that Van Hooydonk actually designed the controversial E65 7 Series -- Bangle (and other executives) just approved it. Even more interesting is that the E60 designer was actually someone named Davide Arcangeli but he passed away and, I think, never actually got to see the his design make final production. (I think some news articles mistakenly credit Van Hooydonk with the E60 design as well.)
So Bangle kept getting blasted for the design of the E65 and the E60 yet he really didn't come up with the designs, he was simply the head of the design department when they came out. Now, Van Hooydonk is the department head so he's credited with everything -- regardless of whether or not he actually did the design work.

"it doesn't seem to have that wow factor like it's predecessor" pretty much says it all. E60 was the high water mark for style.
I won't be parting with mine for an F10
