I just got the new BMW Magazine today and there is a feature article on the E60 runflats. They claim steering is more precise and braking is better. They also say a E60 is 10 seconds faster on a Nurburgring lap that with non-runflats.

Probably - with all 4 tyres punctured.

After all, OEM Dunlops were designed for the E60.

Yeah, that mag just came in the mail today. It was a good read. The new 530i is in there - some NY trip. New M5 is in there too.

I think it's true, because i have run flats (Bridgestone Potenza 225/50/17 - 138 style rims) end the feeling on the road is about like my friend's e60 with michelin 245/40/18 - 135 style rims (non runflats). I know as well the feeling with non runflats 225/55/16 - 134 style rims(BMW dealer's test drive car). It's like to ride on ballons.

I also have nice pictures E60 Summer in Paros Greece !!!
I'll post them later...
Thanks.

Don't think so! I mean come on...logicly why would RF tires prove to be more perfromance than non-rf? I mean those guys are sayin that even with hyper-performance tires (even slicks hipothaticly) the car would be faster with those standard RFs? No way...why? Because of the stiffer side walls? or what?
Maybe F1 should get RF tires aswell...

Just had an idea. For E60 that has runflat tires, I can leave my spare tire at home. Save me few pennis per gallon...
I konw the new 3 series doesn't come with spare tire anymore...

They are comparing runflats with standard street tires.

You can doubt it, but they state it emphatically in their own publication which makes me think there is track experience to support the claim. F1 doesn't run on street tires so I really don't see any corrolation there. The point is that there have been numerous threads about how people changed from RFs to non-RFs and noticed a huge performance gain. According to track testing, you may notice a quieter or softer ride or a longer-lasting tire but you are not gaining performance by switching from the stock RFs.

Ok! than i went too far! So how do you describe a street tire? What speed indicator should it have? W, V, Y, Z ?!?
Michelin PS2 is a street tire? what about goodyear eagle F1?
Those are not competition tires either!
