After reading many car magazines and just watching Top Gear where they said that the Maserati's transmission is a disappointment and is not anywhere as good as an automatic, are all of these people moron's! I can see a tester from Consumer Reports saying something like that but from car and video car journalists? I still don't get that they don't get it.

First reviews are saying that the Quattroporte is vastly improved with the automatic transmission (there is also an accompanyiny minor engine remap which modifies the torque curve). The DuoSelect tranmission was always seen as the weaker link in an otherwise excellent package. The QP uses a ZF auto transmission by the way.

I have a Maser 4200 with the same paddleshift as the old QP. Once you're used to it, its brilliant. All you have to remember is that it is a manual with an auto clutch, not a proper automatic and drive accordingly.

Sounds like the same comments that myself and other SMG owners have been saying all along.....
