A bunch of marketing BS in my eyes. After claiming for many years that DI and turbos were not the right technology for a BMW and/or did not create enough value, now it is suddenly the best thing since sliced bread. I have a feeling that the success of the company attracts too many "gold digging" marketing folks that seem to get more control than the engineers.

It's actually the R&D engineering section that is setting the pace in BMW land. The marketeers may take over and spin it, but the increases in HP and mileage are true engineering efforts. Doesn't matter to me how the marketeers spin it or not. Look at the latest round of 2006 Engine accolades to BMW for proof of their engineering prowess.
