Another dumb SOB writer trying to evaluate a car -- can't even learn the pop-the-trunk technique.

I think two things are happening here:

1 Those customer reviews are based on expectations, not reliability. Naturally with certain branded and priced cars expectations are higher.

2 Unfortunately you have to put some pressure on the dealer every now and then in order to get things done. In this consumer age people tend to shy away from that. I found that especially with MB and BMW there is a layer of dealer arrogance you have to fight through. Once that's done, you are where you want to be. Squeeky wheel gets the grease.

In defense of the writer, I don't think he's the one bashing the car. The writer was simply reporting the complaint of some dumb SOB owner who couldn't learn the pop-the-trunk technique...and clearly isn't smart enough to find this board!

Right. Mr. Boudette quoting Mr. Rabadeau -- sounds a little Frenchy.

"sounds a little Frenchy"? Um JDN, I think you've opened up a can of worms with this one.

That WSJ article is hilarious. Why would the primary reason somone buys a car be the telephone. I know the primary reason I bought my 5er was the windows.
