Statistics and surveys can be skewered to read any way to further an agenda or a point. To ridicule and dismiss forum members for disagreeing with you is pompous and inane. Your avitar says it all. Sorry you had problems with your '07 but if it was warranteed it didn't cost you dime one extra. You might want to bash BMWs on the porche forums, you might just get the positve feedback you seem to crave. Happy motoring!!

Who's bashing? It's a thread discussing JD Power's results - the ones the industry itself takes most seriously. And BMW owners deserve better than BMW is delivering right now. Funny how you call out my post while ignoring others in the thread - many of which frankly are ridiculous - suggesting that JD Power was paid by other manufacturers or that BMW should get a free pass as it is held to a higher standard. The reality is that this is equally true of all premium marques - many of which happened to place better than BMW. In your post it appears you're doing much the same thing, essentially implying that JD Power may be skewing the results or furthering an agenda. I maintain that this is not happening, that BMW is just scoring poorly right now and the survey results are what they are. And as I said, BMW owners deserve better. So, in a nutshell, you're trying to shoot (and, it appears, also psychoanalyze) the messenger because you don't like the news. Intellectually lightweight, and kind of pointless, don't you think?

BMW designed and engineered cars that have excessive battery drain issues and faulty HPFP's. There's nothing complicated about either of these components, so if they scored low on the JDP survey as a result of things like this then its appropriate.
Personally, I'm not bothered much about things that break on a car since it happens no matter what car you drive. But what does bother me is when the dealership fails to correctly diagnose and fix the problem the first time I bring it in.
Recently my SA actually teold me that my car's automatic service notification CAN NOT work because I purchased my 5er in GERMANY even though it was U.S. spec. I didn't waste my energy responding to his BS - I just sent an email to BMWNA. They must have had a field day on that one since two days later I got a call from an apologetic SA asking me to bring the car back for a second look. The problem was solved with the help of a BMW "specialist" sent down to work on the car.
There's a fair chance that my HPFP will need to be replaced AGAIN.
Their poor rating doesn't surprise me at all......
