it seem that individual cars (diesels) power and acceleration values variates quite lot. It also seem that to 100mph reading is .... long compared to 60mph.

I have to take mine in to track! I have to know...

Try the 530d with manual gear box and you will see that the difference between the 535d and the 530d manual will be a surprise !!!!

The 530d will be faster 0-100 km/h and will be faster 0-1000m ....!!!!

I'm not willing to get into a "mine is better then yours" discussion.
But i can't keep myself from mentioning that i seriously doubt that statement <_<

No, sorry

We have actually tested that here, with a manual 530d and a 535d down a local drag strip. 535d won each time no matter if it were rolling starts or from standstill, and different drivers

E60Speed,
How did you find a 535d in SA?
They are not released here nor planned to be.

I believe that! 535 have 25% more power and auto tranny can not eat all that, so 535 have to be faster.

Good question BMW#4. If they were available I would be first in line!!

The other interesting comment from the local Schnitzer suppliers was that with the diesel cars they get consistently better times in the auto than in the manual due to the fact that one tends to over rev the manual wehereas the auto box changes at the best time.

Having driven a manual for a week last week, I did find that with no torque converter, you can get a lot more power to the wheels to the degree that you can get wheel spin that you cant in the auto.

I am now in a 745i loaner which while very nice, I still need my 530D back (waiting for new DDE module and re-coding/programing).

Hi Streak
One thing I wish BMW would do is put the steering wheel mounted gear shift buttons (as on the 7 series) as an option on the Auto E60's.
By the way - I saw your Schnitzer on Car Torque a few weeks back - very nice
Did you get the body kit also?

BMW#4,
Yes JSN contacted me and told me to watch the show, recorded it as well. No body kit this side, just the extra power!!

BMW SA tell me that since the new DDE module the car is more responsive and gear changes are better behaved. That's without the ECU which I will re-fit once I get the car back (It's been 3 weeks now).

The buttons on the wheel are nice but you cant get them into action as quickly as you can the stick shift. Often I need to go from auto to manual in a hurry and it's not easy to do with the selector on the wheel, I guess it may be a matter of getting used to it??
