Thinking about buying 2008 X5.....what do you guys think?
I came across this 08 BMW X5 for sale and wondering what you guys think. It’s got 50k miles and it’s the 4.8 v8 model.
The cool thing is that it’s got the same engine that I got in my 06 550i, and I know my way around that thing having to do a little work on it. Did the vacuum pump gaskets, valve cover gaskets, upper timing chain cover gaskets, spark plugs and stuff like that.
Anyway wondering if it’s a good deal. He’s asking $11,500.
Let me know what you think!

I'd do the same due diligence that you'd do with any car. Run a Carfax and ask to see the service records. Look on Auto Trader, Cars.com and the NADA site for competitive pricing information, but being on the islands, prices may be higher and your choices may be limited. Remember, it's an 11-year-old vehicle at this point. Good luck with your decision.

Update.......
we went and looked at it and drove it. I looked at everything I could think of. He had all service records( all from dealership) and everything looked really good. He just had to replace the entire rear airbag suspension system about a year ago and other than that no other problems. I couldn’t find a oil leak anywhere, and I looked all over.
The test drive went well. Drove very nice with a lot of power. Steering was straight and no shimmy or shakes. Braking was smooth and no pull to ether side. Stoped very good. Honestly I couldn’t find anything wrong with the damn thing.
Did a carfax repot and everything looked good like he said. No accidents and serviced regularly at dealership.
After a little negotiation we ended up at $11k.
So looks like my wife gets to be a bmw driver as well. I see a race in the near future!

Congratulations! It sounds like you did everything you could. Sometimes the most important thing is your gut feel that this is just right. I think you're gonna be okay with this one.
