OT: E90 question from an E60 owner

My Ride: 2007 530i, white/black manual, sports package, nav, PDC, etc.
My E60 is in the shop and the dealer kindly arranged for a 328i loaner. Nice car, handles well, but the brakes are very touchy.
When the E90 was first introduced in mid 05, I noticed this on a test drive. By now, I'd have thought that BMW would have given the brakes a better feel.
What say the group?
