...it was designed by Hyundai?

Not that the first one was a great-looking car, but at least it looked like it was designed in Munich...

Hyundai got nothing like that. This new design looks much better than the previous ones.

No, Infiniti copies BMW, then Nissan makes derivative designs based on Infiniti, which get copied by Kia. Hyundai and Kia have same corporate parents, so designers use a lot of similar techniques, hence the styling trickles to Hyundai of course, then Lexus copies Hyundai and BMW copies Lexus and you get the new X3's nose, not to mention:

I didn't say they did - just the overall appearance of the front of the new X3 is a total disappointment. It looks amateurish for a BMW design. The grill is mis-sized, headlights' shapes make me miss the old X3 headlights - and I hated the old X3 headlights!

Interior looks nice, btw (aside from the blast from the past shifter ):

I can't see how Infiniti copies BMW AT ALL. Out of all the manufactures, I find their designes the most original.

I can see where you're going with it. I see the headlight shape looks rather familiar to Sonata's.

Dude! The dogleg (Hoffmeister kink) rear windows, the roof line (G37 sedan is particularly guilty of this), Bangle-butt look-alike rears - to me, there are many cues that are almost carbon copies.

The good parts, yes. I actually like a few things about it - those vanishing shoulder lines are pretty sexy and the interior looks nice. I don't like the front overhang, the grill and headlights though - which counts for a LOT in my book.
