My Ride: (USA) 645Ci, Silver Gray, Chateau, Cold Weather PKG, Premium Sound PKG, Sport PKG, Step, NAV [Std Equip in 645], HUD, Satellite (SIRIUS) Radio, Aux Input, Bluetooth enabled using iPhone 3GS w/ adapter cradle - Build date - 01/05, Baby delivered 2/24/05
A perhaps not so quick review of my new 6er, which you E60.netters so graciously let me include in your great forum. Its hard not to share with such avid fans of BMWs.
The Good: the car arrived and all was well with the world. All the features worked as well as or better than expected. Idrive was a breeze. Pairing v551 was a breeze, finding my interior trunk handles was a breeze, opening trunk without setting off alarm a breeze, operating turn signals was a breeze, 1 and 5 mile (rounded of course to x0 or x5) increments on CC was a breeze, programming buttons on steering wheel a breeze, and so on and on and on.. Also pleasently surprised on ride quality on run flats and sports suspension. Less harsh than expected. Of course as you will soon notice this is with all of 500 miles under my butt. I have to thank you all for providing invaluable lessons learned that I could apply so that I could easily use all this great technology And your input also helped set my expectations as the give and take on this forum is excellent and what one person finds as a nuisance another finds as a joy to behold and a thing of beauty. The car is beyond my expectations Better than any of my test drives could have indicated was waiting for me. When I picked up my coupe they had a Black/Beige Cabrio on the showroom floor that my wife actually liked! She has an Audi ?03 A4 3.0 Cabrio ? Red/Black that she truly loves. Nonetheless, she thought the BMW cabrio worthy of consideration. However, after spending time in my car with me providing a tour of all this car offers, she is convinced she could not handle the technology (iDrive and more).
The Bad: 512 miles and 8 days later the iDrive display blanked out, not a freeze, the display is kaput. Took in Saturday and they found a fault code that indicates display bad so the had to keep my baby to make it well again.
And the OK: they put me in a 745i and sent me on my way. I now can see what all the fuss is about over comfort seats ? damn their good!
A few pics (I hope) of this fantastic car: And thanks again for letting me share my 645Ci with you.
