Cool article, although the E30 M3 doors are different too. The only shared body panels are the roof and hood. The roof had an extension panel attached at the back to allow for a different exit angle and better airflow across the spoiler.

Best friend has one, I've been fortunate to drive it several times (once from Pittsburgh to DC) and if you ever do get a chance to drive one you'll see how every subsequent generation just isn't quite as good. This thing truly was a road-going race car.
