My dealer persuaded me to put my name down for the new E90 M3 this morning. I'm number 2 on their list so will be guaranteed a car at launch and they think they will have the car around late 2007/early 2008 unless BMW move the production dates forward.

Their M5 allocation is long since sold out but they could get me an M6 which I thought was interesting. I think I'll pass on the M6 as I fear the depreciation but the new M3 is a different prospect entirely.

Good on you ! I've been toying with this prospect for my next car. Did you manage to any details including prices and specs ?

I didn't realize the books were open for the new M3 yet. I will be in my dealers next week for service and I may have a wee chat with the sales guys.

Afraid I don't have prices or specs. I just know the guys at the dealership pretty well and they encouraged me to stick my name down. All I know is that the car is due in late 2007 or early 2008, is most likely going to be a V8 and is predicted to have in excess of 400bhp. There is speculation that the car will be available in both 2 and 4 door guise this time around but I will go for the coupe version.

We will have to compare cars at that time cos I've got an E9x Alpina B3 coming. No concrete details on the car yet, but it is in development. They are deciding which engine to use as the donor.

The latest info I have from Buchloe is that it will most likely be a supercharged straight 6, BHP in the region of 400 and with huge amounts of torque.

It will be a replacement for my wife's B3 cabrio (which arrives in Sep 2005, replacing her existing B3 coupe)

Timing for the Alpina B3 is most likely Geneva 2007 debut with delivery late 2007/early 2008.

All the Best

Hobi

PS How is the 997???

Hobi,

The 997 is superb. It took a little time to adjust to it but it just keeps getting better and better. I've just done a deal on a Cayenne as my new daily use car and should collect it sometime next week. I decided to go for the V6 as it is better on tax and I couldn't live with the V8's thirst for fuel. It is jam packed with kit though to make up for the lack of cylinders

I've also put my name down for a new E70 model X5 which should be launched either late 2006 or early 2007 so I'll be switching back to a BMW "fleet" in 18 months or so

Your Alpina E90 sounds a very interesting prospect. I'll look forward to hearing about it and comparing notes.

In that case, we shall meet in 2 years time! Talk about forward planning.... I hope I don't end up driving a Lada by then, otherwise it will be a little embarassing...

Well, unless I make a few catastrophic errors of judgement in the next 24 months at work I should be ok. Is there a forum for Lada owners then?
