My Ride: 2006 550i - Titanium Silver, Step, Black Interior, Sports Pkg.,CWP,Comfort Access, Nav, Premium Sound, Sat. Radio

So I was at my dealer this past Sat. getting the recall done on my 2006 550, and my regular sales guy told me that someone just backed out of an e93 order (2008 convertible). He said if I was interested, he could still change the order, but had to do it that day, as it was going into production on Monday. He said if I put down a $500 deposit, he would spec it how I wanted, and put my name on it. He also said I could back out of it if I don't want it when it gets here (4 to 5 weeks). Seemed like a free option, so I gave him the $500 and spec'd it to my liking.

So the question is, should I make the change? Trade in the 550i for the 335i convertible? I have had the e60 about 18 months, and 99% of the time I am the only one in the car. Also, Houston is a nice climate for a convertible.

If you took out a loan on the car you'll get screwed! if you bought the car cash I would say 70/30 keep you E60, More HP, better suspension my opinion, a 2 door 335 coupe then yes.

No, no loans at all. Paid cash.

The new one would not be a 2 door coupe, but a 2 door hard top convertible.

The 335 cab is a very nice car but it lacks room and really doesnt have a useable trunk with the top down....................you'll miss the v8. See if they have a loaner and try it out for a day in your usual routine.
Good Luck

Thanks for the replies. I am really not worried about the space (back seat or trunk). The vast majority of the time it's just me in the car with my briefcase.

When I was contemplating this 335i purchase, they did have a 650i cab. I took it for a test drive. It was wonderful! But the sticker was $91,000! I then drove the 335i conv.. It was great too, but defianately different. More sport, less luxury. I figure if I was going to put out $91k, I would rather just get the 335i and keep my 550i rather than buy the 650i cab.

The 650i was a fantasitc car though! Congratulations

Those 335i converts can be easlily optioned to $60,000, thats crazy for a 3-series. You should forget the drop-top and pick up the new M3 for $63,000.
