I am in Germany and got a BMW 320d as a rental car. The Diesel is SOOOO much fun to drive!!!!!!!!!!!! And its only a 2 liter engine. It pulls from 1500 rpm almost as well as my 545i - amazing. So far, I have 6.1 l/100 km as fuel consumption (38.5 mpg).
The funniest thing is: the door seals creak in the rental car...

It really is an eye-opener to the un-suspecting when a lowly 2.0 litre diesel, at the merest tiddle of the big toe on the accelerator, can pull stronger than a freight train.

" Tiddles" must be a UK thing, like crumpets. Dont think we have them here in the US.
Oh, we have crumpets in the US. Indeed we do. Visit any college campus and you will see lots of them with skimpy outfits.
Crumpets are a good, good thing.
I got a 320d Cabrio from Hertz on my last trip to Germany. Nice black car with manual tranny. Since it was a Cabrio it was not a new E90 but the engine was adequate for the Autobahn. Nice power low in the rpm band. It did seem to run out of revs pretty early however.
Wich we had the diesel option in the US.

HEY - Whats this UK crap thing. I'm in little 'oul Ireland here.
Tiddles is a technical term used by advanced drivers in Ireland.
Flexing ones big toe to depress the accelerator. Also referred to a toe-job in the car. (Wheres ICEMAN with his E60 TOE truck).
