I sold my weekender (Porsche 968 Cab) and am now on the hunt for another fun 'head turning' weekend car. This time I want a four seater so my wife and 4 year old can ride at the same time.

I have long loved the 840 and 850 series and now have the garage space for a third car. Anyone out there have good experience with the 8 Series? I'm not so concerned with the HP of the V12 850, so I'm leaning towards an 840 because the engine seems a bit more bullet proof. I'm pretty mechanically inclined to keep up with the mainenance and minor repairs, but still do not want a car that is more overhead and headache than enjoymnet. Anyone with good insight on if the 8 series would fit the bill?

Sure it would. A good source for good e31 info is the e31 forum on Roadfly, or e31.net, or http://www.wuffer.net/
also http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=11

And for the MOST knowledgable source, Jud over at http://8coupe.com/
