Another day, another recall. If you own a 2014 BMW X5 with the Soft Close Automatic option built December 12, 2013, through March 10, 2014, expect to be contacted by the automaker.
Your vehicle's rear side door lock mechanisms may have been manufactured to incorrect tolerances. As a result, they have the potential to disengage the child safety locks when the inside door handles are used. That means whoever is sitting in the back can pull a handle two times and open a rear door while the X5 is parked or moving.
When you take your Bimmer to your closest dealer, it will check the locks and replace them for free if they're defective.
