I don't think this is the case. If you look at the picture there is a green 'P' between Neutral and Drive.
I saw a video of the shifter in action. You press the park button and the shifter moves itself into park. I believe the park position is that green 'P' between Neutral and Drive, so I think one motion down would take you from Park to Drive.
I dunno...just a theory. I wish I could find the video showing it going into park.
