I dunno Krozi, this one seems a little too subjective to be a poll. It has to do with comfort levels, space requirements of your personal lifestyle, your own self image, things like that.

Well, I'm 16, I don't have a family to support, I have never had a hip replacement, and there is a boy racer hidden inside of me I guess E46 is the way to go

Probably , I am nearly 20 years older, with a family (not to mention being 6'4" so a 3er is a little tight for me). If I was in your situation? M3 no doubt about it!! There is no better ride in your situation (barring a Ferrari or Lambo).

Manual or SMG?

It's kinda funny, there is a small feud between the SMG owners and the manual owners over at E46 fanatics
I did the two things I said I wasn't going to do, when I was looking at E46 M3's. I said no convertible and no SMG. Well I got a black on black convertible M3 with SMG. I am loving everything about the car.

The same feud is on M3post, but it is manual vs DCT.

Nice! I want a coupe/manual. I have just never owned a manual, and after I drove my friends 328i stick, I was hooked
Also, manuals are more robust and have a longer lifespan than auto boxes. Also, never again in my life as long as I live will I ever again buy a Jet Black BMW. It is a BI*CH maintain

On the new M3 with the DCT, I would probably go for the DCT though
