RE 2004 545i. I have searched and not found anything related to my particular problem. Wife hit something in road split rim and blew out tire. $6000 wheel and suspension repair. After getting back vehicle noticed the Idrive was not working. Dealer said that it must have been corrupted during the vehicle programming. I was told it happens sometimes. What does not happen is them offering to replace what they broke. While I deal with who is responsible for replacing Idrive I have the small detail of not being able to reset my TPMS. I have giant red tire pressure warning staring me in the face now at all times. Short of just paying to have Idrive replaced myself, is there a way to disable error message or disable TPMS until I do replace the Idrive?

 

Sorry to hear about your issues. This has been discussed before in relation to people not wanting to spring for new TPM sensors when they buy a winter setup and what can they do about the warning light.

In short, it comes down to a coding issue. You can't disable the warning without coding the computer to ignore it. Sorry I couldn't be more encouraging.

 

I am amazed your dealership released your vehicle to you with this error and they should be held 100% accountable. I would speak directly with the service manager and if he refuses to fix the issue go over his head. I have worked for several dealerships as a service advisor and customer service rep and your vehicle would have never left my dealership without 110% customer satisfaction and all errors addressed and fixed.

 

Thanks to both responses, both good suggestions. I think the solution is just to spend the $350 I have seen on Ebay for a used unit.

 

Unless you can have them tested first you may end up paying more for a replacement. Times are tough and money is tight but the safety aspect far out ways the cost saving.
