Sleepyca31 returns!
Hey gang, well I had so many bans that I ran out of clever names to pick-so I am stuck wtih Diamond
Unfortunately it came to me when I got engaged 11 months ago, but that came to an end (for a good thing!) and now Diamond has no meaning to me!
Well I am not sure who reads this forum but per Rudy's advice I wanted to thank everyone for accepting me back and apologize for anything I did in the past. I was at a worse time in my life and angry at the world in general 3 years ago. My mum, who is virtually my only family member, had lung cancer and was struggling through surgery, I was trying to apply to residency programs and constantly interviewing and stressing out about getting into a program that fit me etc, my 250k worth of student loans were haggling me over deferments and such and in general was miserable at the school I was at
The one saving grace that year was getting to buy my first bmw, a 2007 brand new 530i. My first new car and my dream come true. I had wanted a bmw for as long as I knew what a car was! I wanted an e60 since age 21 and I first saw one. It was truly a dream come true. Unfortunately it was my coping mechanism at the time and was unable to enjoy it along with a nice enjoyable life-but still it was huge for me! So that was my earlier years where time coping turned into anger at life and even trickled down to being banned and being rude on internet boards!
Fast forward years later and although I have always continued to read (minus about 10 months at one point) I have been following and reading this board and only this board for bmw's for some time now and am at a different place. Sadly I know so many members by name and posts yet they have no clue who I am-but from this board I have turned into a closet expert at my car and have come so far in my konweldge.
I was outed yesterday as Sleepyca31 and discovered so this is my first post of honest in awhile! My name is Michael and I am living in columbus. I would lvoe to meet some fellow bmw lovers as I do not know any car lovers!
I am doing my residency in psychiatry and am 3 out of 4 years finished with 1 year to go. I plan on moving back to Phoenix where I am from ASAP as the weather is killing me here with all the cold, grey and snow!
I love technical informationk learning about our machines/engines and this is a complete passion for me and now I am at such a better place in life, my mum survivived lung cancer, I am in a great program and rest of life has fallen into place.
I have a 2007 530i, jet black, Sport, Premium. WIth mods-RPI exhaust, RPI scoop/KN filter, Velocity CSL hyperblack wheels and euro sickers up front.
So that is me in a nutshell

Sounds good.
Good your mom survived the lung cancer!
Just stay calm, don't do stupid things and everything is OK.
This great family can forgive, allthough some things are never going to be forgotten, such as a foglights thread...
See?
Welcome back, pal.
And never forget:

which means, think about your post before hitting the button and making it public.

Sleepyca31,
You and I have butted heads a few times over the years, but I did see the passion you had with your BMW. Here's a piece of advice, when you reply to someone think about it before you hit the enter key. I was going to post something in your RPi thread when it was still on page 1 (didn't know at that time your identity). Instead, I went away and came back hours later. I'm certainly glad I didn't post what I wanted to initially.
BTW,
I did endorse the AFE hot air intake when I had it on my 545i, but this was before I met Eloy. Because of Eloy, I now know what NOT to do. It's so easy these days to make a car lose power.

Atta boy Michael, you're off to a great start! Glad things are better with mom and glad you are able to look back at where you were and move forward in a better direction!
As you've probably seen as you lurked here, we're sort of all one big dysfunctional family and the more we get to know one another, the more kidding, sarcasm, etc. you'll see between people who know each other well. In your case, I think everyone knows you but didn't really know you, if you know what I mean.
I'm glad you took the time to [re]introduce yourself -- especially since there are many who were not around to know you from your first 5 or 6 attempts at being a member here...
Even in the early days, I always saw how enthusiastic you were about the car (as we all are) and I'm glad (as well as hopeful) that you will be able to share this enthusiasm with everyone else here. Just don't ever forget where you've been and I think you'll be fine...

Heard stories about you, Michael
Good to finally meet the man behind the legend
I'm very happy that your mother overcame the lung cancer. Thank God!
I'm happy to see another BMW lover. I can speak only for myself when I say this, but in difference of opinions you can often find the truth, so if you are ever to disagree with anything I say, I'll welcome the opportunity to prove you wrong
Now, let's talk about posting some pics of your car

Michael:
Rather than repeating what's been said by Rudy, Iceman, Vlad, Steve and others, I will just +1 to their comments. This is an unbelievably forgiving place and 99 percent of the members are good people. Just try not to go to war with those with whom you disagree and you'll be just fine.
And we're certainly all happy that your mom survived lung cancer.
