After some pre-purchase lurking on this fine forum, I finally pulled the trigger the other day and bought a just-off-3-year-lease '04 525i from Long Beach (Calif., USA) BMW. It has sport and premium packages, plus Xenons. I've had both 3-series and 7-series before (plus a couple of Lexi...GS and RX), so I figured I'd try the new-style 5. No regrets so far. Pics:

Couple o' questions:
- What color is my car? Silver Gray Metallic or Titanium Gray Metallic?
- 91 octane only, right? Don't even consider 89, right?
- I'm having the dealer install the aux option (and do the software upgrade) on Monday so I can plug in my iPod. I've seen all the posts here about bass boost via capacitor removal. I likely won't do that if I can find a way to use my 4th gen/40gig iPod's bottom connector instead of it's top/headphone output. Any caveats welcome.
- All other suggestions welcome too!

I read about that SoCal drive on 12/15. I'll try to join you all for that.

1. Looks like Silver Gray to me. Open your hood and look for either A08 (Silver Gray) or A36(Titanium Gray II).
2. I wouldn't consider 89 ever. Always 91 or higher. Some others states have 93.
3. Please do join us 12/15!
