Hi guys new to the BMW scene just bought an e60 530D it's a 2005 ex armed response vehicle with auxiliary battery terminals etc under 90,000 miles when purchased 😎 I'll be doing some reading today as I have some faults upon starting the ignition Head Unit Not Programmed Correctly so press iDrive then displays Head Unit Not Coded Correctly. Then runs through random faults with air bags, tpms error, something about run flat also pops up from time to time. I have absolutely no mechanical experience whatsoever but computers I understand so acquired all the relevant software and hardware have ISTA P ISTA + and a few other BMW specific on virtual machines all of which have been setup and tested with my OBD cable purchased from eBay(update name when I remember but sought the correct one before purchase). I have now run ISTA P and apparently the M-ASK GW has some issues as showing in blue on the modules tree and upon further checking I've identified that as the audio controller. So fingers crossed I can find a solution and if any of you fantastic people have any experience with this issue I'll gladly be appreciative of any information or links that may come my way 🙏😎👌

Welcome! I'm sure you'll find the solution here somewhere.

Have you purchased an ICOM yet? It's only needed if you're going to do some updates? Do you know specifically what the error code is? If the issue is not being coded then a simple factory code should get it right. Let us know how it's going.

Hi seanjordan20, it was the k+dcan cable with the switch I purchased no ICOM as yet but if that's recommended I'll purchase one now and hold off until it arrives. Also no Error codes as far as I can see have not used a basic diagnostic scanner as I'd rather not brick the ECU

ICOM is only needed when you're planning to update firmware. Your K+DCAN cable will be able to do the majority of your work. With what you have you will be able to code VIN and program module to factory settings using (WINKFP(for Vin)) and NCS expert (factory code). If using ISTA to code replacement module I would suggest ICOM but it's not needed to fix what issue you're having.

Hi bud I've managed through winkfp to sort the Not Coded issue and am now able to set my time and date plus have more features accessible in iDrive menu. I ran INPA and from the User Information Field it's showing my ZB No. for my MOSTGW as **M965037, it shows programmed to the correct VIN but the date shows as 4*.08.08*0 Very strange as 1 the job status reports OK and 2 the **M965037 isn't a correct 7 digit zusb as require for winkfp. Any ideas? I have taken various pics and can upload if necessary. As always any help greatly appreciated

Unsure what has been done, I got hardly any conversation from the seller he was an asian chap and perfectly honest, I don't think he would have had the feintest idea
