[/quote]Ericdbs,
I looked into the Costco program, but it was a joke. The dealer they referred me to was supposed to give me a rock bottom price, no haggling. What actually happened was, he told me to go shop around, and then he would try and beat the best price I found!! Forget that.....I went to my local dealer and got a great deal!!
I would forget the Costco program, and go find your deal. If you are looking at a 2005, then I'm guessing you could get something in the invoice + $500-$1000 range......maybe better. Maybe some other members in So Cal can chime in on that. And, my experience has always been better dealing directly with a sales manager, rather than a salesperson. A fleet manager will usually do you a better deal as well. There have been several threads here dealing with purchasing/negotiating your best deal.
Good luck, and let us all know what you end up doing!!

Welcome Ericdbs. Sorry no experience here with costco. My personal opinion is that for long-term reasons, and for a little more money, I prefer purchasing from a dealer because I can get a free bmw loaner/no charge! I also get better service when they know you've purchased your car from that dealer. Some dealers, like Alexander BMW, and I'm sure others, will pick your car up with a flat-bed from work or home. So the couple hundred dollars in savings may not be worth it in the long run. (Hopefully, you've joined bmwcca - in order to get your discount!) Good luck!
