This is my first BMW, too. I LOVE this car. I've had it since April and still can't wait to get in it every morning. I've never had a car like that before.

I have work mate who also got new e60 yesterday. We have spend only half
of the morning by comparing cars and ride what they give. Opinions from 60+ years old are same than everyone else. He likes it!

I experienced twice in 2004 first waiting (90 days) for feb04 530d then (40 days) for dec04 535d.
Be sure: waiting is worth the candle

Your dealer should be aware of how to order it, although it seems like many of us know more then the sales guys.
