Hello all,
The name's Mike, and I'm in the market for a 04-05 545i, 6-speed.

I currently have a 96 Acura NSX, and am looking for a new daily driver. I've been lurking for a few days, picking up info as I can. So any tips or advice on these wonderful machines will be greatly appreciated.

Mike

If you are thinking about a 05 545, you might want to also consider a 2006 550.

Welcome...I realize that we're talking apples to oranges here but once you find and get some stick time behind a 545, I'd love to hear your thoughts about how it compares to the NSX.

I always thought the NSX was cool, BTW. How did you like it?

NSX is supposed to having amazing handling and grip. I'd love to hear about that.

Thank you all for the great welcome. I don't know how to multi-reply on this site yet, so I will try to respond by some of your names

Nerweezy-once the 545i is purchased, I will be buying the Lumma style front bumper, so I hope you still have 1 or 2 in stock

V_therussian- You are correct, most people don't sell them at all. It was a great car, and awesome machine, I am just refocusing on starting my business right now, and will purchase a newer one hopefully within the next two years.

SDG1871-I looked at the 550s, but honestly, the 545i's are getting really ridiculous as far as prices go. 20K for such a beautiful and powerful machine is...well...crazy

Rudy-Yes, to compare the two is really is apples to oranges. A friend of mine had a 540i, which I thought was a boat/tank (not in a bad way) just couldnt keep up with the NSX. As far as todays standards, it's underpowered, however for me, it was perfect. It was the closest thing to having an F1 type car that I've even been in (minus the Elise) however I'm 6'1" 230, so that didn't work too well.

Looks-the nsx had it all (in my opinion)
Handling-like it was on rails
power-perfect for me, underpowered for most if you compare it to today's standards. 5 of my friends with NSXs have gone F/I, and honestly, it would be the perfect driving machine, if you go turbo or supercharger, there's not many cars out there that I would consider over it
reliability-never once did I have an issue with just hoping in, and taking off

I drove a 530i sport, handled tight had pretty nice get up, however I'm going 545i, just b/c of the power increase. I will give my opinion on that when I get behind the wheel
