Thank you and now that you mention it I did have a question concerning what weight engine oil is called for, 5W or 10W, and what oil filter is recommended but....I found the thread discussing this topic so I will ask there.

I have not had a chance to review the owners manual so while on the subject of asking question's....how the heck do I adjust the head rest?

I am loving the car and driving her gently and she only has 86.4K on the odometer which I think is pretty darn good for a 10yr old car. The car is HEAVY but I had to pass a vehicle today and this car will flat get up and go when asked, I was very surprised and very happy.

Thanks again,
Gregg

The correct oil for it it 0W-30 ( LL04 qualification) and use original oil filter.. Here in my country it cost 15euros but i think it's cheaper in US..

So your suggestions are BMW supplied? I am confused because I have read others suggestions and some people are using MOBIL1 (as I have for over 20yrs) and a few other brands of oil and filters. I have not yet asked my boss what his opinion is regarding if I should buy from BMW. We use MOBIL1 full synthetic on 90+% of all of our vehicles which consist mainly of Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Lotus etc etc.

I appreciate your, as well as others, suggestion regarding using BMW products but I will have to do a little more research.

All the best,
Gregg

PS, I purchased and installed K&N's replacement filter this weekend.

NO sir. the correct oil for this engine (M54B25) is 5w-30, or BMW LL01 in the US.

OP, the BMW oil is only slightly more expensive than most off the shelf comparables, and I do notice that the car runs slightly better with the BMW oil (less lifter noise). Don't ask me why, but I do notice a difference.

Best of luck with the car.
