I had a 1998 e39 528 for about 8 years. I sold it this summer when it was becoming a money pit. (The car drove great but I was replacing parts left and right due to age). I briefly lost my way and purchased a new 2008 Acura RL. It was a wonderful car - incredible bang for the buck and wonderful technology. However, after riding in a BMW 5 series for 8 years, I was ruined.....The "honda" just didn't do it for me. So, I sold the car (taking a huge depreciation hit) and just purchased a 2007 550i Sport CPO'd with about 20k miles. I loved my 528 but this 550 is a blast!

Man I wish we had American fuel prices. You guys would get bargains on 545s and 550s over here because they are so cheap 2nd hand because nobody wants them! To damn expensive to run due to the fuel costs and tax on the larger engine type.

I bought both my 645 and my 545 when gas prices were over $4 a gallon here in TX, and never thought twice. Gas prices have nothing to do with buying a car you want, IMO.

Welcome to the land of the high revving V8. I know you will enjoy the ride, and the information on the board makes the driving experience of the 550i sublime..

If you can afford a 545i and a 645i then its likely you wont be too troubled by gas prices!

If your looking for a 2nd hand 5er so you can get a nice car on a bit of a budget, its a different story.

Nice Rig Wolf!

Welcome back to the good side...

I'm ruined by bmw too - especially a torquey v8 bmw! Hell, my 16 year old is already ruined...He hates driving my wife's fwd ES350 - but loves the 550 (go figure)

If you ever decide to sell your rims, let me know. I need some for next winter...want to get a head start. That is, assuming I still have this car. Maybe I should wait, after all.

Congrats on the ride and welcome!
