My husband purchased a 1997 528i for me last week. The car has 145,000 miles on it so I hope we got a good deal. I came across this site by accident but I am hoping that I can learn a lot about my BMW. I have never owned one and was hoping for a newer model. However, my car is nice.

Congrats & to the best BMW forum on the net. This site is devoted to the current body style called the E60 hence the name of the site, but many of the members here, my self included, have had multiple BMWs including your model 528i which is called the E39 (read more here) so have fun.

Welcome goadgirl01 but as Phill said, you have an E39 so you might not get the same satisfaction from this board as you would if you had a more current E60. He's also correct that many of us have some experience with E39 cars -- I went through two of them before moving to an E60...

Have fun and congrats on your "new" car!
