Having sworn id not spend any more money on things for it, its been 4 days and ive already ordered ///M trunk spoiler and trunk finisher (which i dont think many people bother with, but i love the subtle difference it makes, booked it in to have cip i-drive software updated (in order to get mp3 playback working, which it isnt), and updated my nokia 6230 firmware in order for it to work fully with the car's bluetooth, which it now does (the upgrade cost me ?20 at local nokia service centre), picked up the 6230 snap in adapter for ?50, and getting tints done when i get back from holiday (should i do the dechroming before doing tints or will i still have the option of dechroming later, without the tints getting in the way at all?)
anyway, thats my e60 story so far, moving up from a golf tdi pd 130, and loving being among the big boys now
from my nosing about here, looks like a lot more maturity and friendliness amongst the crew around here than ive found amongst owners forums for other cars ive owned, which ive normally found to be riddled with teen ghetto speak

It might be a few years old - but the 530d is a fantastic car - and pretty much the perfect high speed cruiser.
I'm swapping mine for a new 330i m-sport (my friends think I am mad), but it will be missed. I can't imagine I'll be able to stay away from e60.net either.
I have read on the forum that the original cars don't support MP3 - but I also remember another post that said someone with an early model had got it to work.
Either way - it's worth asking for the software to be updated because the latest versions have much better gearchange and throttle response.
Maybe you could ask your dealer how old yours is and try to get an upgrade for free?

My Ride: Nov 2003 530D SE Auto in Mystic Blue with Grey Dakota Leather, Business Nav. Star Spoke 124 18"s, Blootooth Preperation.
Modifications so far: M5 spoiler, M5 trunk finisher, hometronic rear view mirror, Maple Wood interior trim.
Mods to come: M5 style quad exhaust and M5 rear bumper, Dechroming, black ebay grilles, tints, upgrade to factory amp, by the time I've done these, I'm sure I'll have thought of some more....

dealer hasnt seen the car, just talked to them on the phone, I guess once they physically get hold of the car theyll be able to say a lot more, but he had a word with one of the techies and software update was what they recommended, so i guess its worth a try as long as I have a "no work, no fee" clause

I'd recommend chrome grilles, which would bring the front bang up to date, otherwise it could be a brand new car, except for the downturned exhausts. I have the same, and I'd be really interested if anyone knows a fairly inexpensive way to get some nice chrome straight tailpipes without replacing the whole back box.
