Last week I picked up an '07 530i in dark Silver with gray interior. The car has both Sport and Luxury packages. I came from an E36 M3 so it is quite a change but so far I am enjoying the car. The hardest part to get used to is the extra size and weight. It does take some adjustment driving an automatic too. This is the first car I've ever owned with an auto. I had done a lot of modification to the M3 so it's a completely different world in the handling and ride departments. I seriously doubt I will do any suspension mods to this car. The only thing that is appealing to me right now is a Mtech or M5 style body kit. I don't want to rice the car up though. I can't wait to get rid of these run flats, grip is OK, turn in same but they sure are noisy. What do most of you guys run instead of the run flats?
I'm sure I will come up with lots of questions so I hope you guys can help out the newbies on the forum.

Many members believe that the best summer performance tire, if cost is no object, is the Michelin PS2. There is no question: ditch the RFTs.

My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny.
2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter.
Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.
to the forum. The E60 and the E36 are different beasts but both fun to drive. Definitely ditch the RFTs. I was lucky that mine came with regular tires.

and thanks for joining!
Currently i'm rolling on falkens 452, but previous to that i had PS2. Which ones do i prefer you ask? Hands down the PS2 fo'sho!! They are ofcourse, a lot more quiet because they are of a softer compound than fk452. And because they are softer they wear down much faster - the biggest drawback to getting the ps2. I could go on and on but save it for your next question in the appropriate thread.
sounds to me like you are a modding type of person, so trust me, you will end up "upgrading your suspension" just like i did on my sport pkg.

Thanks everyone.
I am looking at Breyton Race GTS or CS wheels so far. I have always been a fan of Michelin tires so will probably go with the Pilot Sport A/S Plus. 45k mile warranty sounds like a deal to me. Reviews on Tirerack are good and they scored a win on the test this last time.
Luigi,
Just for clarification mine is not an 'x' model.
Yes, I did do a lot of modifications to the M3. My intent at one time was to turn it into a track car but health and other issues stopped that. I was driving a 'good' track car on the streets and it nearly beat me to death. It was so stiff and had such a hard ride it was almost uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong I loved it. Priorities change as we age, uummm, mature.
I can see adding coilovers and lowering the car a little as long as I don't take away too much of the ride comfort. I think the body kit is of more interest right now.
Now, how do I get the ipod to work in the idrive screen?

Welcome and congrats! Just to throw mine in the mix. I have Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. They are great summer tires for both dry and wet conditions. A few members have them as well.
