Newbie from the Bay Area!
been a member of e46fanatics and have done and wrote DIYs for other members and i am in the process of putting back my E46 back in stock to sell or trade for an E60, still debating if i should get 530i or 545i, but definitely manual or SMG. Question for you guys is, considering that the 545i has 4.4L V8 engine with 3xxHP and the 530i has 3.0? V6 or L6 with 225HP, can you guys feel the difference at all? Would you guys recommend 545i as DD with about an hour a day of driving? Any feedbacks are welcome!

Welcome, Bimmer360, I am also a newby on this E60 site. I'm guessing you are talking pre-owned cars in your post, correct?

welcome. the 04-05 530s feature the M54 engine 225 hp. the 06-07 ones feature the N52 255 hp. the 545 with 324 hp i believe... very noticeable difference in power. good luck with the decision and enjoy the forums.

Welcome to the Forums. I have an '06 530 manual and it's fast enough for me. I've yet to drive a 545/550 but I'd guess that'll be a kick in the pants to drive but as a daily driver, I'd go with the in-line 6.
