My Ride: Looking for a BMW - currently own a 2013 Ford Ranger 3.2L 185HP 350ft-lb
Hailing from Jamaica
I live on the island of Jamaica.
Wife wants a BMW on a budget Currently we drive a 2003 Mitsubishi 7 seater called a Spacewagon. Leather interior dual AC, 2.4L engine, not a bad car. Interior in near perfect condition but needs a paint job. I drive a 2013 Ford Ranger with the 3.2L 185HP 5 cylinder Turbo Diesel.
So the hunt has begun and we prefer a 5 series over the 3 series. I am avoiding the 3 series due to the early 2000 models ($) and not wanting to look for sub-frame cracks or deal with that over the next 100000km.
She wants a little power so 525i or 530i is preferred on our list.
BMW are not cheap here in Jamaica as the duties on all cars range from 70% to 100%, so it makes an already expensive car outrageous.
a 2005-2007 will still run us US$13000 so its a real challenge to find a low mileage unit that is not going to start out as a money pit. May end up as one but don't want it to start out as one. I am fairly handy with DIY and the main thing on my wish list of tools is a LIFT . However I am deciding on custom building a set of outdoor ramps in place of the lift as i dont have an indoor garage.
I will of course want the diagnosis software for BMW so I will accept any recommendations on what to get.
I found two 530i to buy this week and posted a question in another thread to see if anyone had any opinions on them.
Cool Runnings.
Chris
