Production Feb 5, SilverGray. I am curious if I should have waited a month for a post week 9 car. I have searched a little on the subject, is the only change the air vents?? I hope I didn't make a mistake pulling the trigger too early.

BTW, love the car! Didn't like the design when introduced, didn't care for iDrive, one test drive and I was hooked. Previously had a 540 Sport and this car is much more exciting to drive.

Great board, I like the international participation.

Thanks!

Congrats on the new car. I'm in the same boat as you. I disliked the new design but it has grown on me and one test drive got me hooked. My car was built on March 17 and should be here next week.

What is this week 9 production? Could someone explain it to me?

Enjoy your new ride. Please post some pics.

Week 9: Post March 2005 build cars have:

The extra ruthenium on the air-vents

DSC+ which inclues Soft Stop, Brake Prep, and Brake disc drying for wet. Also anti roll back when you're on a hill.

3D Nav but thats upgradable through software so its not really Week 9 dependent.

Thats bout it... nothing I really care about. Less things to break I dont want to get a message on my iDrive saying "Soft Stop error please see dealer" I'm worried enough with SMG and Active Steering and Dynamic Drive and all the other electronics. (*knock on wood*)

Thanks for the info. Since my car was completed on March 17th, I wonder if my car will include this "upgrades". Is it the end of March of the start?

Thanks again for the help.

Welcom aboard DS18661... let's see some pics!!

I also hesitated on the car because of the new design but this car has a funny way of growing on you, fast! And of course, the test drive sealed the deal for me

Thanks for the warm welcome! Coming from owning E36, E46 M3's, 540 Sport and a 330 ZHP, I really like this new BMW. Nothing like a V8. It is funny, but if I didn't read the complaints about Active Steering, I don't think I would notice the car had anything but a little extra boost at low speeds. It sure beats the recirculating ball steering of my '99 540. Nothing is as direct as a 3 Series/M3....but frankly in a larger more luxurious car I want something a little smoother. During break-in, I am having the most fun with the active suspension! And I find the driving position excellent compared to the E39. I will post pics, just figured everyone has seen a Silver Gray 545i Sport.

Go Cubs! Go Illini!
