I can't see inside the wheel to make sure the plugs are the right ones, but the airbag plugs in at the bottom (behind the //M logo)

take a picture looking down into the hole behind the logo and I'll point it out to you. Assuming it is there, of course. It was on mine. What year is your car?

I have no idea what a 53 reg is, what is the model year of the car? 04? 05? 06? Open your driver's side door and look down along the door frame. You'll find a sticker with the VIN and a build date. What is that date, and what is the part # on the steering wheel you bought? I think you got the wheel without the airbag controller, no biggie but you might have to buy one more part, assuming you got the right wheel (there was a change in 9/05 cars to the steering wheel, so a wheel from a newer car will not fit the older car and vice versa.
