My Ride: 04 BMW 545iA ZSP, ZCW, HUD, Silvergrau

Hello to all and a big thanks to this website for all the info that made the decision to purchase possible.

Our first BMW is a former CPO Silver Grey 2004 545i OZSP, OZCW, NAV, HUD & 6Disc Chngr with 45K on it and bone stock (as far as I can tell).

Now this maybe an unusual question for a new owner, but considering I got about 2.5in of snow last weekend, are there any specific do?s and don?ts regarding winterizing this car?

Congrats on the new car. I'm a first time owner too, for 7 months now. I love this car.
Can't tell you much about snow, I'm in Arizona. But, good luck, have fun

Winterizing tip #1. Winter tires (and wheels). Really, you will enjoy driving it all winter long without compromising much in performance.

Winterizing tip #2. Wax or synthetic protectant. Everywhere ... including wheels, door jambs, hood & trunk channels.

Winterizing tip #3. After all the leaves come down, pop open the hood and trunk and scrape or blow out all the leafy build-up in the channels.

Winterizing tip #4. Replace wiper blades and fill the juice box.

Winterizing tip #5. Clean the inside of the windshield. Thoroughly. Polish it, if needed. It's hard enough sometimes to see out the windshield with snow or ice on it, why make it harder with grimy inside glass?

Winterizing tip #6. Put a snow scraper in the car.

Winterizing tip #7. Warm blanket in the trunk. Peppermint schnapps in the glove box. You know, for emergencies.

Winterize your driving skills with your new to you BMW - don't practice on the road! Find an empty parking lot and see how your car behaves under abrupt maneuvers, braking, turning, etc. so your first slide under hard braking on ice or snow isn't with another vehicle stopped in the road ahead of you

Thanks for the welcome!

I knew it would be an odd question and I should have been more specific in my query but where I live (Poconos, PA) there is no substitue for 4 or All wheel drive in winter.

So since I'm looking at keeping the new addition in the garage until April, I was wondering if fuel stabilizers would adversely affect the fuel system and/or motor and any other helpful tips/hints would be much appreciated.

If you're not using the car at all during the 5 winter months, fuel stabilizer won't hurt! I'd garage it with a full tank to reduce condensation build up.
