All the above spots are pretty awesome. I've always wondered though, if you come from Europe, does LA look crappy compared to what you guys have? I mean just look at Prague, Paris, etc. etc. and we have nothing like that here... man I want to go to Europe!
As far as LA goes, I would highly recommend scattering your trip around since LA is hugenormous. I broke down places to see/stuff to do below:
Places & Things to Do:
West LA/Santa Monica/Beverly Hills (look up Miracle Mile also)
-Shopping at 3rd Street Promenade, The Grove, and Westfield Century City
-Hopeful celebrity sightings in Beverly Hills/Rodeo Drive area
-Getty & Getty Villa Museums
-Santa Monica Pier
-LACMA and Automotive Museum
-Celebrity hyped but delicious restaurants on restaurant row ($$$$)
-LA Dodgers Baseball Game
-LA Lakers Playoff Game
Venice/South Bay
-Beaches and fun little shops
-Boardwalk and piers
Hollywood
-Star walk/Mann Chinese Theatre
-Fun shops and interesting people out and about
-Magic Castle

-Take a fun and relaxing drive down PCH (Highway 1 South)
-Lots of cool little beachside shops and eateries
-Huntington Beach Main Street
-Laguna Beach is a fun place to walk around
-Disneyland, Disneyland California Adventure, and Downtown Disney
-Shopping at Irvine Spectrum & South Coast Plaza

I LOVE THIS CAR!!!
(WAAAAAYYYYY better than my previous MB E350, but quite a bit more expensive :( )
True...if you want potholes, never ending traffic, and no sight of the sky, then go for NY,
BUTTTTT if you want, open roads, Mickey Mouse, and a smog filled atmosphere, LA is yo place

Go drive down Rodeo Dr. I always take guests from India and everywher there...Beverly Hills. Go check out the hotel where they filmed Pretty Woman,
Capitol Records, Mann's chinese theater, the hand prints, Kodak Theater....OMG So much to do!!!

Ohhh and while you are in Beverly Hills, I GUARENTEE, you'll see at least one F430, at least one Gallardo (maybe a Murcielago), about 2-3 Bentley Continentals (doesn't matter the type GT, GTC, FLying Spur), about 3409583495830495 Range Rovers, and a double-R Phantom. Buttttt if you wanna see a real car, hit up DBae cuz apparently, his RPi monster is faster than any of those
