Just registered for the UDE in San Diego!!! Sounds like a great opportunity to test the limits and gain first hand knowledge about the new 3.

Anybody else done this? going to the SD event?

Did something similar a few years back when the Corvette C5 was released. Hoping BMW does a similar program.

My wife and I did it in 2000 at Qualcom staduim in San Diego. It was fun. We had a choice of 3 of 5 series 3.0 cars. Since I have/had a 528, we drove the 530. The are all Steptronic. They give you about an hour of classroom and the rest of the time you are driving or riding along on the autocross course. Three people to a car and an instructor. The last run of the 3 or 4 runs is competetive. At the end, we took a 330 out on the streets for about a 1/2 hour.

My wife and I have done it three times (E46, X5, X3) and try not to miss it when it comes around. When we did the X5 one back in 2000 we were so impressed with the car's abilities and handling that we orderd an X5 in the next few days after the UDE.

You said they have the new 3 this year??? I have already registered for June 12 in Los Angeles, but I thought it was the X3 again this year????

The invitation does say that the new 3 series sedan will be the car used.

That sounds good..........can't wait. This year I just called and registered without getting an invitation, so I don't remember how I got the impression that it was going to be the X3 again???
