E60 made it to number 49 on the list of i think 157 cars..
that's actually not bad..
almost all MB's are 100+ which is dreadful.
top 10 mainly Japs with a couple of Skoda's chucked in.
bottom mostly populated with French cars..

Did you see the program last night? Excellent - as ever... 49th is quite good, but Clarkson would still sniff at it (M5 excluded) Good marks for engine/gearbox, suspension/steering/brakes, squeaks (seals excluded!?)/rattles, handling, customer care and ownership costs... Big low on the electrical reliability!!! Fit/Finish and comfort/practicality mediocre. (Could be the runflats affecting comfort?) Interestingly, the old 5 is 30th and the 3-series 38th.

Did anyone else here enter the survey - I did...

Shame about the M6 though! (Coming 'last' to the 911 and Aston)

Yes, interesting. I say kudos to all who did well. Maybe the Japanese have something going for them. Maybe BMW will improve given the results.

P.S. Edited: I misread the MB result earlier. Sorry. Still, I wish we all could speak respectivefully of all others. "Jap?" A pejorative, right?

Fully agree with the rating on the Merc M-Class. Jesus - that was the biggest pile of crap I've ever had the misfortune of owning. First and last Merc I ever buy.

We have one and I can confirm your thoughts. However It has now done 80k miles and has been very reliable. Plus it does hold a lot of stuff and IMHO it looks quite cool. Just badly made.

On the E60 I would have thought it would have been up with the old E39!

I'm a bit disappointed with 49th position and would have expected BMW to have been in the top 20 at least. Is it a case that BMW owners have high expectations and are more critical than say Skoda owners? Are Honda and Lexus really that good? Doubt it.

We are talking about surveys of owners, right? Maybe BMW owners are relatively picky.

I entered the survey.
No surprise about the Japanese cars being on top but surprised that Skoda do better than the mainstream VW and Audi when components are roughly the same.
