To be fair, i wonder why it had to stop there. I think that they were doing roadside work, as I saw the same truck later but on another part of the road.

It was a long truck, so it was gonna be after a blind corner for either direction. And, quite honestly, no one expects 40+ BMWs driving enthusiastically when thinking about pulling over. Most regular cars doing normal speeds would see the truck with plenty of time to stop.

Once again, this emphasizes the safety factor that one has to keep in mind, especially awareness and reaction to things outside of our control.

That's whyI try to have fun when there is little to no chance of stopped traffic or cars pulling out, etc. Although where you guys were, the trucks stopped in the road would be totally un-expected. It pays to keep a decent following distance even when in a group.

It does look like most everyone had a good time, although for some it might get expensive.

Do tell of the GT-R and its run-ins that's been hinted at.......

How many speeding tickets were issued in total in this meet? I thought we did not make lot of noise..to attract cops..

That is why the law generally requires a "men working" type of sign. The stupid trucker did not put one up and put lives at risk. The spot where is happened is full of low speed corners so no one was coming around the corner fast enough not to be able to stop. But.....if someone had been distracted and not paying full attention, it could have had a tragic ending.

I know where you are coming from. Unfotunately, unless you were with the group that was stopped, your testimony would not matter because you do not have personal knowledge of what happened with the group who was stopped or how fast they were going. Sucks but that's how it is.

I am aware of 6-7 tickets -- 5 given to the group. The 5 were at or near the back of the pack and it happened on Rt. 9W. I have heard that one or two members got tickets on the way home after the meet was over.

In the little over a year that I've been active, the flake rate is about 50%. This meet's flake rate was about that or maybe a little lower. A number of members PM'ed me and told me that they could not come. The usual reason given was work commitments. Other reasons given were mechanical problems with members' cars or illness.

SERIOUSLY. I would say 90% of the 50%+ are full of shit, but its good they don't show, cause the chemistry was perfect this weekend. NO "holes" or show-offs. Even Calton left early which improved...I mean...uhhhh...well, you all know what I mean...hahahaha

I think that more often than not, the real reason why most folks who flake flake is that they don't want to get up early in the morning on the weekend.

Honestly, even when folks flake on meets that I am organizing, I don't get pissed off or annoyed. This is an entirely voluntary board by and for enthusiasts. There is nothing commercial, political or hierarchical about this place which is so very different from most of the rest of the world.

Everything is meant to happen for a reason and if a member decides not to go on a meet, that's OK with me. It just means that we end up with a group of members at the meet who have put aside everything else to be on the meet. And it does make for some good driving stuff and a lot of fun.
