It rained liike crazy here on meet day.
There was little representation, people failed to show up that were on the list.

But those that showed up had a great time, a great ride, and we met 'off duty sheriff' a-hole.
Seems passing on the double yellow really pissed him off.

Classic line to live in the anals of Mid-west Meets.

Off duty cop- "let me see your ID"

This was my first e60 meet and it was a blast. Due to time/distance issues, I flew to Minneapolis on Friday and John (DRANGED) picked me up at MSP and we went to lunch with his wife and her friends. After some errands, we went to have Thai food, then, back to the hotel for me.

Next morning. John (DRANGED) and John (Audi_Eatter) pick me up and we head out to get John AE's car that just had been detailed. We go for breakfast and John D draws us a Rand McNally-quality map. Then, off to Cars and Cafe to see some gorgeous Lambos, Ferraris, BMWs, Muscle Cars, Porsches, etc. It started rainy fairly heavily, so after meeting up with Kevin (KTAN--who departed at that point) and Todd (Roadking350) and his buddy Mike, we started driving. We met up with Sean (Chowbox) at Redstone Grill for lunch, where, much like Maria in a Tortilla, John D found an amazing eight-sided "Star of David" under his drink.

We hit the open road with Sean in his S2000 as official pace car. The guy can drive. I spent some time in John D's 550 and John AE's 545. Both are really great drivers, and John D let me take his car for a twisty section that was a blast. Unfortunately, a rock came out of nowhere and put a 1/2" crack in his pristine windshield. My new nickname is "Cracka." Sorry, man.

After one really fast stint through Wisconsin, we pulled into a little tavern for a break. All the sudden, some dude it a long-sleeved police t-shirt comes and starts rapping on John D's window. He opened the door and the guy's all puffed up saying, "You know that pass on the double-yellow back there? Drop it man!" Then says he's an off-duty cop and asks, "Do you have any ID?" to which John D responed, "Do you have any ID?" BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. The "cop" had to go back to his wife's car to retrieve it! HAHAHAHA! We headed into the bar and waited for John to finish his chat with this d-bag. Turns out, Todd's friend Mike, who was riding shotgun, had seen the guy stomping toward the car, and said, "If you lay a finger on anyone in that car I'll punch you in the back of the head!" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Classic. We decided it best to abort and cross the border back into Minnesota.

When we stopped at a scenic overlook where a Native American princess precipitated herself, John D managed to affix a Jesus Fish to John AE's recently de-badged car. Surprisingly, John D was allowed to live after a brief wrestling match. The fish was on the car for approximately 1 minute 34 seconds. John AE said, "It burns!"

We took a break at a local pub and then people peeled off for dates or whatever. Sean, John AE, and I went to John D's house to watch the Red Wings demolish Pittsburg. I managed to spill tea on my watch and like a flash, DRANGED to the rescue. I had been knocked of balance by an unexpected Victoria's Secret catalog sitting under the tea pitcher. I almost managed to break some other things while playing with John's dog, Chopper, but came through relatively unscathed. After a nice rest at the hotel, I hopped a shuttle back to MSP and got to St. Louis around 1 PM this afternoon. It was a fast 48 hours.

Despite the rain, it was a terrific event. I met some new friends, great drivers, and true car enthusiasts. These guys have some fast mo-fo cars! I also had a really great drive through some beautiful country. If you're on the fence about going to a meet, go!
